The Long Commute

There once was a little broccoli of a girl who travelled a long ways home. From the city of the Bay to the city of Angels, this little girl made a little journey South bound to join the family for the holidays.

One hour long flight later she arrived in the smog infested overcrowded place we called home.

There were many engagements to attend to, many people to see, many meals to be had.

It was a nonstop two week fiesta!

Soon after, it was time to return to her humble abode and so we rode to the fantastically fun airport and Instagramed the hour away!

Fun times, happy memories YUA YUA!

Finding the light

Vacation's over. Back to reality. Boo.

Why is it always so difficult to bounce back from a good vacation? We should be happy to return to our schedules because we should love what our schedules entail. Not always the case, but why?

It's easy to get used to the daily life occurrences. It's easy to be desensitized to what was once "exciting."

But let's not let ourselves do that to ourselves! Look through the drudgery, find the cracks in that wall you've hit.

Push that excitement for life back into place.

Step outside once in a while and find the beauty in what is often neglected.

And stay positive. Stay happy. Stay true to that five year old self. You know, the one that had a zest for life, high expectations, and dreamt of the impossible. Never believe in what you cannot do because belief is one of the strongest motivators. Believe in what you want to do!

The calm

Home sweet home. We are back in one piece after a five and a half hour drive...whew!

Coming back home meant waking up late, one cup coffee seems insufficient, and the whole day seems to be going faster than usual. Well, here I am ... it's 4pm and I'm sitting here trying to avoid the overly bright settling sun rays from blinding me while I watch the 49ers versus Saints football game.

Ahh the calm after the storm of Thanksgiving get-togethers, Black Friday shopping, and long road trips.

I am grateful for having that sort of storm. Life is best when we have these little stabs of activities but rest is necessary! Don't forget to play play play and then rest rest rest.

Life is good. I wish everyone happiness, health, and habalabalah... I couldn't think of the last "h" item. Home? =) Love you all!

Post Thanksgiving Fun

What to do on the day after Thanksgiving? Not much, except it is apparently something called: BLACK FRIDAY!

The day of extreme crowding, consumerism, and craziness! We took a few hours in the morning to grace the Gilroy outlets with our presence and turns out most stores had released their Black Friday sales on Thursday night. I suppose that schedule helps the overcrowding but it takes the idea of Black Friday away. Odd..

Anyway, after the three hours of walking around we decided to drive home and find a nearby park to take this:

I hope anyone who braved the crowds found great deal. Either way, hopefully you had a nice Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

How often is it in our lives when we have the opportunity to say "Thank you" to one another?

Well... every single day is an opportunity but I suppose we do need a reminder or two that we should always remind those around us that we are grateful for each other.

Though not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving around the world, Happy Thanksgiving! I am grateful for everyone who have crossed my life at some point. I am a happier person with a fuller life because of all of you. I cannot remember when and what each person has specifically done but the fact that you have left some sort of footprint in my life have added to my well-being.

I think life is too short to sit around and wait for directions on the next steps. We need to live each moment as if it were our last. Thank you thank you to you all. I am grateful and though I don't always remember to say it - I love all of you! <3 p="p">

Pre-Thanksgiving Poem

The day before Thanksgiving and what do we see?

An opportunity for another poem with me!

The days of turkey are far beyond us,

The cooking, the cleaning, the terrible fuss.

But family traditions are important to value,

And it is worth all the trouble to go through.

We all must eat and eat and eat away,

The calories can be dealt with another day.

What to do when tired

Oh yeah, it's Friday!

It was a rough morning to start with... I missed my alaram (yet again), my carpool friend's car battery died and was need of a jump start, I had an awkward lunch with coworkers, AND on top of all of that... I have tummy cramps.

I came home and felt a bit crappy...a bit deflated from the long day so... what do I do when I'm tired and sleepy?

I made this:

Middle of the week

Hello everyone!

We're back on track for blogging! Sort of. Well, for the time being at least.

Today is Wednesday, also known as "Hump Day" since Wednesday is in the middle of the work week, it is called the "hump" of the week. Hump Days typically are in competition with Mondays for worse days to deal with.

Today, however, was quite mediocre. Nothing overly stressful yet not really that enjoyable. I should have counted the amount of yawning I participated in...I could have entered into Yawn-a-thon 2012.

Off topic time:
This week challenged my aching desire to live life as a kind, forgiving, loving person.

Without going into too much detail, certain people who have walked through my life have thrown a few curve balls into my little bubble of dramaless happiness. A few rude bigoted remarks here and there, high self-esteems, inconsiderate selfishness... I have to remember to be the bigger person!

It's so difficult to be the mature one and trust in the theory of karma that all the good you send out to the universe will come back to you.

BUT it is necessary to learn to let go of these nonsensical actions from these people, not for anyone else but for yourself. Being the better bigger person in life is most beneficial to you, for your state of mind, for your mental well-being.

Off topic time is over-

Anyway, tonight was my company's first official softball game and... well, it's always fun to see beginners! =D

Oh crap, it's on Wednesday today...or early Thursday morning right now. I thought it was going to be Friday already. Darn!

Have you ever watched good ole episodes of Friends where Monica is psychotically cleaning her apartment? I can somewhat relate to that...sometimes...

It starts off with brushing a few crumbs off the table and then noticing a big dustball across the counter and then realizing when I brushed it off the counter that it would fall onto the floor. So I grab the broom and start sweeping and sweeping and oh gosh that needs some mopping so I grab wet wipes to clean these spots and wouldn't you know hour has gone by.

No this is not a fictional novel that I am writing. This did, in fact, just happen to me. My hands are sore now.

We have started a new goal of uploading a weekly video onto youtube. Unfortunately this goal was remembered only by me this week. If you are interested:

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is only about a week (and a few days) away! We have annual traditions for Thanksgiving with family meals, routines, visits, and ... shopping!

We tried to buy a brand new LED TV last year during Black Friday but due to unexplainable circumstances, that TV was never purchased. Oh not this year, buddy! Oh no! WE'RE GOING TO GET THAT FRICKIN TV!

Mark my words!

....I think I need to sleep now, I'm getting a tad bit delirious. Good night.

November 11 - neck pains

What to share today? Hm...

Dad: "Just say you ate this fish head and it was bigger than you."

In other more interesting news, I finally made it to the Chiropractor/Acupuncturist tonight! For those who do not know the constant status of my health and body, I have been dealing with severe neck pain for the past few months or so. I've tried to seek help with many different doctors and could not find a viable solution.

Fast forward to today when I finally asked why.

He explained that too many of us are sitting in front of computers screens for extended hours of the day. We must maintain a good 90 degree posture throughout to ensure a healthy balance. The computer should be at a height to allow your chin to stay 90 degrees parallel to the ground. And most of all, you should keep your neck/shoulder area warm.

If it is too cold - the muscles tend to tense and cramp. Long term cramping leads to spasms which then could start to create problems and eventually lead to pinched nerves. The pinched nerves eventually will pull and cause bones to be out of alignment.

So everyone please be careful and take good care of yourselves. Work is important but the value of health should always outweigh everything else.

Happy Birthday G Ma!

According to the Lunar calendar, today is my Grandma's 86th birthday! Huzzahhh! Unfortunately I don't have the formal photo with her so... just try to imagine her through my words-

I grew up with my Grandma quite involved in my childhood. She was living with us when I was an infant, she took care of me before I began school, we visited her almost every single day after school, and she attended almost all our big life moments.

I love my Grandma and upon realizing her actual age (I feel as if we've celebrated her 85th a few times) I calculated that she was born back in 1926! Woah! What life must have been like nearly a century ago! I've learned quite a bit about American and European life around the 1920's era but how about China? Little to none comes to mind...and she's really only shared snippets of her life.

What I do know is that she came from a very humble beginning, worked incredibly hard throughout her life, and gave birth to six healthy children. I feel that there is still so much more to learn about her and I encourage anyone reading this to go inquire about an elder's life. They've been through so much and the greatest gift they could give to our generation is to share.

Life is not a one time YOLO event. You live it every day. You should think "YOLO" every single day but that does not mean do something irresponsible and dangerous. In my opinion, it means to live every day with thoughtfulness, desire, and ambition.

I'm getting off the soapbox now but not before showing you how we spent tonight.

YO freakin LO

It's Friday, Friday, Friday!

Another rainy days for the books... I tried to take an afternoon break for lunch and was almost swept away by today's huge gusts of wind. It's Friday night and what am I currently doing?

Slurp slurp

What's up next? We are heading over to the shooting range in a little bit and I'm ready to shoot out my frustrations from this week. Sigh... ok, I will go into more detail for my next blogpost. Pardon my shorty you all!

I could not really think of something interesting to share today so allow me to disclose the intimate details about my life.

That was where I left off in my unfinished blogpost yesterday...WTH?!?! Sorry people reading! What a fantastical let down. Let me try again today...and I'll actually post it!

Today was when Southern California finally got some rain. Oye! I was never one of those kids who loved walking through the rain without umbrellas and thick boots. That sort of semi-romantic emotional  movie moment walk is too dramatically uncomfortable for me.

The best part of having rain though (besides collecting more water supply for the earth) is that I don't have to water the lawn! Thanks Mama N.! You saved me twenty minutes!

Today was so gloomy and busy at work, I was ready to leave but too wrapped up in my projects to rush out. I watched my digital time on the lower right hand corner of my laptop tick tick tick away before ta-da! Time to rock and roll!

We dodged all insane automobiles and pedestrians on our way home as the rain beat down on us. I watched the rain drop dribble down the windshield and thought, "it's a perfect night for ...Chipotle."

It's about 7pm right now yet the night is far from over, I took advantage of the early night and proceeded with my slew of chores. One of which included washing these two troublemakers:

I will get back into the swing of blogging, but it might take a little bit. I will aim to blog every day but I won't kill myself for missing a few days here and there. Anyway, it's almost Friday! Wee!

Vote for me

Today seems to be an important day to most people...and I cannot agree more. Today ... is the day...

Yes, you read that correctly. You want me to rule this universe and now please allow me to explain why-

As your Queen, I would end all hate in this world by making everyone take a happy pill (Twix bars)

I would end world hunger by giving everyone cake...and possibly pho

I would force a new Everyone Must Shower Once A Day rule. This is a lesson learned from those affecting my life

I would create bike freeways so that they will stop riding into my lane while I drive to work

Guys are allowed to droop their pants down only 4 inches from their waist

Women must drop their skirts at least 8 inches from their waist

I would ensure taxes will be lowered because I will wipe away all debt from everyone and start anew and then take the money and then I'll take the resources and build my empire with Charmin toilet paper and tiramisu.

Err... Well, you can vote for me to be president at least...

Oh, Obama just won? Well, I guess now I have four more years to prep for the next election.

My Halloween Recap

Happy belated Halloween!

I have not really had the opportunity to update my blog but here (read) this, my friends! I have decided to start daily blogging for the rest of this month! It IS November 5th but I will just bleed over to December.

Welcome welcome back to the insanity that is my mind. I'll start off with a quick recap of my Halloween experience:

Though it is not a tradition set in stone, I rather enjoy engaging in the stereotypical activities ie. pumpkin carving! We set out some day old newspapers, large 'dump' bowls, cutting apparatuses  and away we went!

To make it more of a communal event, I invited Olivia and Anna to contribute but did not limit them to mere pumpkins, "be creative!" I remember saying. Well...they were.

This is how our masterpieces turned out and I really loved them! Too bad they molded so quickly =/

My pumpkin was an ambitious (letdown) 360 degree representation of Super Mario games. A for effort?

Since Halloween fell on a Wednesday, we ended up having an office costume party and I decided to channel my inner Bride of Frankenstein. Here I am with my groom.

You thought that's it for my Halloween? You thought wrong! When have I ever left you underwhelmed? I decided to throw in a last minute contender for Odd Halloween Costumes and went to a stranger's party as......

my dad!

See you tomorrow =)

I've been away

I believe breaks are an important of life. No matter what you do and when you do it, it is important to take a necessary time out and rejuvenate.

I suppose this post is an update to let you know that I'm taking a break from my bloggy world and I do plan to come back full force with daily updates but not quite yet. Life is worth living and worth documenting!

See you soon and take a break =)

I think I am finally ready to share this information - (also, I'm emotional so excuse the lack of consistency and fluidity in my writing)

For those who are unfamiliar with my life, I recently lost one of my best friends. Sweetie, our family's faithful companion of 16 years was put down due to his failing health on Saturday September 22, 2012.

It was one of the most terrible yet necessary experiences in my life and though I miss him so terribly, I think we all knew it was the right thing to do for him.

He was a wonderful friend, so forgiving, playful, energetic, and sweet...he made more friends with the neighborhood than any of us mere humans. I treasure all the memories I've been blessed with and though I feel sad, I cannot help but smile through the tears because for so many years this beautiful creature brought so much joy into all our lives.

I found a good amount of photographs to share with anyone who is interested. You're damn lucky if you got to meet him and if you never had that opportunity, you can meet him now:

Sweetie's entire life consisted of him running freely through our yard, terrorizing children on bicycles, begging for belly rubs, and showing off his two tricks - sitting and shaking hands. His memory will live on forever and ever and all we can do is move on with life - implementing the lessons we've learned. Thank you, Sweetie. You will always be loved.

I've been called many things in my life but lame?? Lame??!!!

Oh yeah, I guess you're all right

Time to reflect

Every weekday, my friends/coworkers and I trek out to the nearby condominium community near work where there is a good little park of greenery goodness.

Some days we see many dogs come visit the premise, and some days we see people occupying the space. This photo was taken when people came to visit and these people were practicing or learning yoga.

One woman (seen in blue with a child on her back) came with child, trying to find relaxation and *ohmmmm* her center. Yet her child persistently treated her like a school yard jungle gym by climbing, stepping, hanging off this poor mom.

It reminded me something.

Through the distractions, considerably annoying and/or unnecessary, we must find our center. We must find our calm and focus on ourselves. Even if work or school or life throws road blocks in our way, we still have to resist the urge to be affected. We must sit in the eye of the storm in order to figure how to get out.

Also, we should all promise not to climb on our mothers when we are bored.

What's been happening

There are days where I take time out of my oh so busy evening (Youtube, food, and nail painting) to look through my latest photos. Why do I do that? Well...

It reminds me what I have done lately

It's a good way to clean out my camera/phone

Here's a breakdown of my life lately -

1. One of boyfriend's coworkers gave us her doggie and his name to our family is: Buddy!

He's a trouble maker but is so adorable.

2. I've changed.

3. No wait, I didn't change. I still spend my time mocking others instead of helping others.

4. Boyfriend is no makeup artist. Shame. I suppose he IS creative at least...

5. We love the beach! We're trying to go for a towel record.

6. It was Jeanne's 21st birthday yesterday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANNE!!!

I've known Jeanne since she was a little itsy bitsy five year old. She has grown so much through the years, strengthening her character and mentality.

Thanks for recapping my life with me, till next time!
