I suppose it was a day to remember

worst day ever.

cannot count them all.

just wanted to say that if this is a test to my resolution to becoming a better person. i failed today.

and i don't even care.

BUT

I'm no child anymore, I learn from my mistakes, admit them and move on. Therefore, yes today was shitastic. No, I cannot change whatever happened because it already happened. Does it matter anymore? No.

I learn to relax, collect myself, and laugh it off. So Ha-ha to you crapamolie day!

A helping hand

LA Food Bank

We made the journey through the glorious 10 freeway and arrived at the LA Food Bank around 9am.

The four hours spent there involved sorting, throwing, boxing, and latex gloves but at the end of the shift it felt worth it. It's good to lend a helping hand because every bit makes a difference. =)

We were awarded a spoon pen at the end of the day. Joyous.

If YOU ever want to help, don't hesitate! The efforts go towards homeless, low income families, single mothers, children...everyone!

We had lunch in Little Tokyo after and walked around a bit. It's quite nice to find little cultural niches such as these to remind us that we have such unique qualities we can share with each other. That is one of the greatest parts of living in LA, you just have a variety of cultural customs. You can drive 20 minutes to downtown to eat Korean BBQ, then drive a few minutes to get to Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Little Armenia, and end your evening with a taco truck.

Anything is possible!

RAK- Random Act of Kindness

Ah Christmas is over. All the gifts have been opened, all the leftovers have been left, and all the drinks have been drunken.

Hellooo 2011, we're ready for you!

Christmas was fun, a few of our relatives came from various locations to feast with us and although the size of the party had decimated, the festivities were still lively.

We all had so much fun we could not contain ourselves.

We woke up to morning training and I quickly realized my loss of fitness over break. I need some work!

Sometimes humanity is disappointing. My parents had taken my car to the nearest Bed Bath and Beyond only to find the need for a jump start as the battery stalled. My dad walked up to some guy who was leaving with his family and asked if he could just help them jumpstart the car. So the guy nodded yes and proceeded to drive off.

Ass.

Luckily a pair of guys were driving by and saw my little car's hood standing up like a white flag waving for mercy. Without question, they drove straight to my parents and popped the hood to help.

Why can't we all just lend a helping hand to each other like this? Sometimes we find jerks who find humor in misery but then yin has a yang and kindness does exist.

This new year I urge everyone to make it a point to spread kindness. Do good. Do help. Do care. If we all sit back and wait for something to happen, nothing will. SOooo- one random act of kindness and not only will you feel so much happier, you will make someone else feel happier too.

Presents wrapped undah (under) the tree,
Seems like a happy Christmas to me.

Don't know what I'd do without yaaa.

Merry Christmas Eve!

It's time for cheer and happiness. Let's all remember what to be grateful for.

In honor of it being Christmas Eve and all, here is my holiday contribution:

The lights that litter glitter throughout the neighborhood,
Spread cheer and love and good.
Happy smiles exchanged with both strangers and friends,
Time to make new choices and amends.
Traveling back and forth to share,
That joy of the season with those you care.
Tis the season where drinking is celebrated,
Where you can eat and eat until satiated.

Laughter surrounds the dinner table,
While Home Alone plays on cable.
A witty remark is followed with sarcastic returns,
It's all in good humor to take turn with burns.
Every year relatives ask how old you are,
What you are doing or making and how life is so far.
You answer patiently but you know they always forget,
They'll ask you the same things next year I bet.

The tree stands naked awaiting its armor of lights,
So that it could stand heroically through the nights.
The oven houses the pot roast awaiting its fate,
Too bad to all those who arrive too late.
For now it's time to return to my family-
and their insanity

The Three Os are a trio

It's a gloomy thundery day and I cannot help but feel sleepy sleepy sleepy.

Frodo and I drove through terrible LA traffic to pick up Olivia yesterday and if you thought LAX could be a b*(*#&%(@#&% during regular hours, you should go visit it during rainstorms. People get brake happy and must find a great thrill in cutting lanes. It must make them feel excited to drive diagonally. UGH.

It's almost Christmas and the house's a mess! Do you all do a once-over sweep of your casa during the holidays? It seems fitting to renew my leaky house's condition and have it brand spanking new for the new year.

I guess I don't have much to share except now that I'm done I must take care of all things I've neglected. Bring on the Hoover!

A look back on the semester

It's so incredibly liberating to be doney done done. Donezos!

I decided it would be nice to put a few images of this semester's projects so you can see where my energy went.

Project one: Le Bourget Airport in Paris France

Project two: Riyadh Women's University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Project three: Golden West College Library in Huntington Beach, CA

Right now I am completely obsessed with watching ShayTards on youtube. They have been my background friends for the past few weeks and I believe I am very very very (did I mention very?) close to finishing all 680 something videos!

If you haven't watched them, go check them out! They are a fantastic family who have filmed their lives every day for the past few years and they deserve every view. Oh the hilarity.

It's almost Christmas and I'm not ready! Eeeeee!

A trip to Home Depot

It's that time again! You know that time! That time?

...

Anyway, to switch gears, we went to Home Depot to buy our 2010 xmas tree home today!

It took little to no debate over which tree to bring back since the conversation went mostly like this:

Dad: "How about this tree?"

Odo: "I don't know, I don't like the light colored leaves."

Dad: "Okay then, which tree?"

Odo: "How about this one that I am holding?"

Dad: "Which tree should we get?"

Odo: "How about this one I have??"

Dad (still holding original tree) : "So which one?"

...that was my long transition story to basically tell you all that we got the tree Papa John wanted.

I saw this really cool display wall with various cut pieces of the trunk bases. People signed them and drew pictures and left messages. It was such a simple move but so full of impact. I was truly touched.

And then this happened.

Friday, December 3, 2010

Oooh boy, here I am again..sitting here staring at Illustrator while listening to the sounds of my own crunching while eating Have'A Corn Chips.

Welcome to my Thursday!

Meng Meng and I hit up the Cerritos mall today to do some Christmas shopping per her logic, "I won't have time later." We DID manage to find some good deals and even though we walked half way around the world to find Bath and Body Works, I still had a really nice break away from projects.

...at least for that moment.

The candle flavor of the day is.... Japanese Cherry Blossom! Try it out at B&BW, it smells lovely. Even better, try Sea Island Cotton. Mmmmm

Ok, enough of this stalling, back to homework!

ps. "stalling" sounds like "Stalin" which is completely different.
